When you work at CNO, you’re joining a team with a single purpose: to protect the public by promoting safe nursing practice. Under our “One CNO” approach, we align our individual efforts and skills to help us collectively strengthen patient safety in Ontario’s health care system. In return, CNO offers a supportive work environment that fosters growth and features flexible ways of working and a generous compensation package.

Our staff

Our more than 450 staff come from different professional backgrounds including nursing, law, policy development, finance, human resources, communications, information technology, customer service, administration and facilities.

CNO is a place where people stay and grow. On average, employees stay with us for 8 years, and our annual turnover rate is only 5%.

Everyone at CNO brings something unique to our work and contributes to our culture. It’s what makes us successful and makes working at CNO so rewarding.

Our culture and work environment

At CNO, we are focused on achieving our purpose and are united by our core values: Innovation, Integrity, Collaboration and Wellbeing. We understand that success is as diverse and individual as the people who work at CNO. Our inclusive and welcoming environment supports everyone’s desire to be successful at work and in life.

We offer staff the flexibility to work both at our office and virtually through teleworking. We use these teleworking principles to determine where you will work:

  • connectivity (building and sustaining collegial relationships)
  • contribution (work objectives and role requirements)
  • clarity (transparently communicating expectations)

You may be able to work almost entirely from home, but you must be available for occasional on-site meetings or events in our Toronto office.

Our flexible work environment and schedules may also include compressed work weeks.

We have a volunteer Social Committee that organizes events that strengthen our community: our summer barbeque and ice cream days, walking challenges in the spring and fall and group outings to a Blue Jays game are some favourites. All staff come together for CNO Connects, a day of celebration and community building.

CNO is keenly interested in our employees’ experiences. Every year, we gather feedback through a comprehensive survey. The survey results help us form policies for time away / vacation, benefit programs, salary structures, and performance assessment processes.

Location & Facilities

Our office is located at 101 Davenport Road in Toronto, a short walk from the Yorkville shopping district and the Bay Street subway station.

We acknowledge that this land is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.

Skylights fill our building with natural light, and staff can reserve and work in any of our individual or collaborative workspaces. Our barrier-free building includes ergonomically designed workstations, bike parking, individual lockers, shower facilities, filtered water stations and a spiritual observance room. Our staff café is a favourite space for staff to connect, celebrate milestones and enjoy social events.
