A Verification of Registration confirms to another regulatory board that you are, or were, registered with CNO. This document cannot be sent to an employer or a school.

Members can use the Maintain Your Membership (MYM) portal to submit a request to verify their registration status for another regulator.

Log in to MYM and select “Request Verification of Registration or view verification requests.” Then follow the steps to submit your request or to view the status of your request.

You need to pay a fee to process for your Verification of Registration request. CNO accepts payment by Mastercard, Visa or American Express. The processing fee is $16.95 including tax.

Once we receive your payment, we will begin processing your request. We strongly recommend you apply to the recipient board before you request a Verification of Registration with CNO. Please allow six weeks for processing.

When your verification request is completed, CNO will send a notification to the email address on your MYM account.

We will send your Verification of Registration to the recipient board electronically. CNO will not send it by mail, fax or courier.

If you need help with this process, please contact us.

Frequently asked questions

No, unpaid verification requests are not saved. You must pay the fee at the time you make the request. If you do not, you will have to create a new request.

You can make only one verification request at a time for each category of registration. If you need a verification sent for both your RN and RPN registrations, submit and pay for the RN verification, and then submit and pay for the RPN verification. These are two separate requests.

No. You have the same RN registration number for both classes. CNO does not charge a second verification fee if you hold a different class of registration with the same registration number (such as RN Extended and RN General, or RPN General and RPN Non-Practising). We charge a second fee only if you hold different categories of registration (such as RN and RPN), as described in the previous question.

Document processing times with other regulators vary. Also, regulators may not keep your verification document if you did not have an application open with them at the time it was sent.

We recommend that you first contact the recipient board, provide them with the date your verification document was sent and allow them time to look for it. If they did not receive it, please contact us and we will determine whether a resend is available.

Notes:

  • CNO resends verification documents without an additional fee only if it has been less than 60 days since the request was completed.
  • If your registration status has changed since your verification was completed (for example, you have renewed or resigned your registration with CNO), then this is considered a new request and you must pay the fee again.

There are certain boards that require the Verification of Registration document to be sent to a credential evaluation service for review. CNO has approved certain credential evaluation services for the Verification of Registration process.

You must follow the same steps described on this page to log in to MYM and make your request — but select the name of the credential evaluation service as the regulatory board when you fill in your request in the portal.

If the board requires a Verification of Registration sent both to them directly and to the credential evaluation service, you must submit a separate request and payment for each recipient. If you cannot find the name of the board you are applying to in the online portal, or have other difficulties with your request, please contact Customer Service for assistance.
