What you can do on the Maintain Your Membership portal during the application process

CNO has an online portal called “Maintain Your Membership” that offers efficient services to both applicants and registrants.

The portal is available in English and French.

Here are some of the things you can do through the portal as an applicant:

  • set up an account and submit your applications online
  • update your personal information (for example, address, email)
  • pay fees and receive receipts
  • schedule exams and request accommodations
  • update your application information regarding nursing education, nursing practice, nursing registration in other jurisdictions and nursing examinations
  • upload certain documents to support an open application
  • view the status of documents received from third parties or uploaded by you
  • get updates in a message centre where CNO posts notices about your application

How start your application

  1. If you don’t already have an account on Maintain Your Membership, create one by going to the account setup page.
    • If CNO already has an account under your name, use the same email address you provided when you set up that account.
    • If you want to change the email address you use with CNO, you must first create an account using the address CNO has on file and then update your email in the “update my information” section of the portal.
    • If the email CNO has on file for you is no longer active, contact Customer Service for assistance.
  2. Log in to your account using the login page. You should do this within 24 hours after we send you a password or it may expire. (If it expires, select “forgot my password” on the login page to set up a new one.)
  3. Start a new application for the type of registration you are applying for.
  4. Follow the directions in the portal, and use the appropriate registration guide to ensure you upload the correct information and documents.
  5. Watch for messages in the portal regarding the status of your application. CNO sends you email notifications when you have a new message in the portal.

Application documents that can be uploaded to the portal

You can upload the following documents to the portal to support your application:

  • Competency Assessment Supplement (CAS)
  • Authorization to Work
  • Name Change
  • Accommodation Request
  • Offer of Employment for Temporary Class applications (you must have an open Temporary Class application)
  • Authorization to release information
  • Withdrawal Form
  • Immigration Authorization to Practice — Consent

Documents that you should not upload to the portal

You must not upload documents from third parties to the portal, such as

  • education transcripts
  • verification of nursing practice documents from another jurisdiction
  • verification of registration documents from another jurisdiction

The third party must send these documents directly to CNO. CNO will update your application with the status of the documents.

Other documents you should not upload to the portal include:

  • non-nursing information, such as employment as a personal support worker or a health care aide
  • updates to a registration requirement you had already submitted (contact Customer Service)
