All nurses must be currently registered with CNO to practice nursing in Ontario. CNO sometimes receives reports that individuals who are not nurses registered with CNO are applying for nursing work or holding themselves out as qualified to practice in Ontario as a nurse, Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse, or Nurse Practitioner.

CNO strongly encourages employers to use our public register, Find a Nurse, to verify the registration status of every nurse they employ directly or through an agency. If you are aware of a job applicant or a person working as a nurse in Ontario who does not appear in the public register, please email CNO with the person’s name and employment details at investigations-intake@cnomail.org.
