Portal enhancements improve applicant experience

The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) protects the public by promoting safe nursing practice. This includes registering nurses who have the knowledge, skill and judgment to practice safely in Ontario.

As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize our applicant assessment processes, we are launching changes to our online portal to make it more efficient and improve the applicant’s experience when applying to CNO.

“CNO is dedicated to continuous improvement of our application process by enhancing our technology to improve the applicant’s journey to register as a nurse in Ontario,” says Anne Marie Shin, Director of Professional Practice. “The enhancements to our portal enable applicants to quickly inform us of any changes to their application and remove barriers when submitting the evidence needed to meet their registration requirements.”

New processes applicants can complete online include:

  • adding and updating information online as it relates to nursing education, nursing practice, other nursing registrations and nursing examinations

  • uploading certain documents at any time as long as the application is open, and

  • viewing the status of documents received from third parties or uploaded by the applicant

Third party documents must continue to be sent to CNO directly from the source. CNO will upload these documents to the portal once received. You can learn more about these details by reading Applying Online: Frequently Asked Questions
