Reporting is mandatory

The Regulated Health Professions Act includes a mandatory reporting obligation for employers who terminate, or intend to terminate, the employment of College members. Employers are key partners who assist the College in ensuring that nurses provide safe and ethical client care that is consistent with the standards of practice.

Reports for Facility Operators and Employers

The College has developed the Reports for Facility Operators and Employers form to assist employers facility operators. The College requests that facility operators and employers complete this form when making their report and return it to the College by mail or fax, accompanied by any additional documentation that supports the report.

Help us act quickly

The reports process for employers allows for timely, efficient and effective regulatory action by the College. Since the College retains all information about members’ practice and/or conduct, the reporting obligation allows the College to analyse the reporting employer’s concerns within the context of all other information regarding a particular member.

The College is able to assess and address patterns of behaviour or similar concerns from multiple practice settings effectively when the information comes to the College’s attention by way of employer’s reports.

Assistance with the report process is available by contacting an Investigator at ext. 6988 or e-mailing Investigations-Intake@cnomail.org.
