CNO and nurse employers working together for public safety
Nurse employers play a critical role in public safety by supporting the regulatory functions of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). Employers oversee that nurses follow the standards and guidelines of the profession. They are also imperative to CNO’s mandatory reporting process and monitoring programs.
To enhance collaboration with nurse employers, we have established an Employer Reference Group.
The main objectives of this group is for CNO and employers to:
- Discuss and collaborate on regulatory related topics of mutual interest
- Clarify respective roles in public protection
- Identify areas to support employers needs relating to nursing regulation such as policies, standards and guidelines, mandatory reporting and professional conduct processes, and
- Propose recommendations for consideration related to regulatory work
Members of the Employer Reference Group come from multi-sector practice areas across the province. They bring a broad range of knowledge, experience and diversity. The group will meet quarterly to focus on emerging priorities. The information exchanged will enhance the regulation of nursing in the public interest.
Visit the Employer Reference Group section to learn more about the group, review the terms of reference and access meeting minutes.
