Response to MOHLTC: Sexual abuse of patients
On Jan. 23, the College of Nurses of Ontario responded to a request by Dr. Eric Hoskins, Minister, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, for information on the current status and operations of its patient relations program's measures for preventing and dealing with the sexual abuse of patients.
The request, which went out to all health regulatory colleges in the province, was made as a result of the establishment of the Minister's Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Patients and the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991.
This Task Force has been asked to provide the Minister with recommendations for strengthening the RHPA's sexual abuse provisions by no later than spring of 2015.
