Nursing Education: RPN

You must show evidence of nursing education for the type of nursing (RN, RPN or NP) that you want to practise in Ontario.

Applicants meet this requirement by completing a nursing program approved by the College.

If you did not complete an approved nursing program, then we will look at your nursing education and nursing experience, if any, to determine if it meets the entry-to-practice education requirement.

Note: Failure to complete part of the following evaluation or the required additional education may mean that you have not met these requirements and you will be unable to proceed with your application. Applicants can request a review of their application by the Registration Committee at any time during the evaluation.

2. Do you have a Practical Nursing diploma from an approved Ontario RPN program?	YES	Requirement Met

3. Did you complete a nursing program designed to prepare you for practice as a practical nurse?	NO	You must show you completed a nursing program that prepared you to practise as a practical nurse. If not, your application will be reviewed by the College's Registration Committee.

4. Was your program approved in the jurisdiction in which you completed it as one that would have allowed you to practise as a practical nurse in that jurisdiction?	NO	You must show evidence your program was approved. If not, your application will be reviewed by the College's Registration Committee.

5. Has the College reviewed all your nursing education and determined that it is the equivalent of a current graduate of an approved Ontario Practical Nursing diploma program?	YES	Requirement Met

7. Has the College reviewed all your nursing education and nursing practice information, and determined that you have the equivalent nursing knowledge, skill and judgement of a current graduate of an approved Ontario Practical Nursing diploma program?	YES	Requirement Met

8. You must complete an evaluation of your nursing knowledge, skill and judgement by completing a Competency Assessment Supplement (CAS). Then continue to number 9.
9. Has the College reviewed your completed Competency Assessment Supplement (CAS) along with your nursing education and any nursing practice information you may have, and determined that you have equivalent nursing knowledge, skill and judgement to a current graduate of an approved Ontario Practical Nursing diploma program? Learn more			YES	Requirement Met

10. You will need to complete additional education to address competency gaps identified by the evaluation.
